Does OTX replace official hunting or fishing regulations?
No. OTX is designed to organize and verify connected official information, but users are responsible for checking the current agency source and obeying posted rules before hunting, fishing or entering property.
Why does OTX sometimes show no open species?
That is intentional. If OTX cannot confidently verify a species as open for the selected location and date, it does not guess. Use the official-source link to check the agency directly.
What does private-land information mean?
A parcel boundary or owner record does not grant access. State access programs may allow hunting under specific rules, but registration, reservation, written permission, species restrictions, dates or parking instructions may still apply.
Where does water information come from?
OTX uses current USGS water measurements where monitored and NOAA/NWS river context where available. Fish-count pages use Fish Passage Center reports for supported Columbia/Snake passage sites. Readings can be provisional or delayed.
Why does OTX need location permission?
Location powers Current GPS, nearby seasons, weather, water, land/access intelligence, map positioning, waypoints, GPS tracks and Emergency Assist. You control location permission through your device.
Do I have to enter my home address?
No. OTX does not require a home street address. Current Location is used by default, and you can optionally save a coarse Home Area such as a city or region as a fallback.
Can OTX call 911 automatically?
No. Emergency Assist can show your coordinates and help you call, text or share location using your device, but OTX does not operate an emergency dispatch service and does not automatically transmit your GPS position to 911.
DATA & SOURCES
Official sources first.
OTX connects to federal, state and local sources for seasons, emergency rules, fish counts, water, weather, public land, parcel data, hunting units and access programs. Coverage depth varies by state and agency. When a source is unavailable or ambiguous, OTX is designed to say so rather than fill the gap with a guess.
