This Privacy Policy explains how OutdoorTacticalX ("OTX," "we," "our," or "us") handles information when you use the OutdoorTacticalX website, web app, and mobile applications.
Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly and information needed to operate field features you choose to use.
- Account information: email address, display name, authentication records, and account status.
- Profile information: an optional coarse Home Area such as a city or region, optional phone number, and optional emergency-contact information. OTX does not require or store a home street address.
- Trip and outdoor data: saved trips, dates, species, destination coordinates, waypoints, saved species, reminder preferences, and trip contacts you choose to save.
- Location information: current device location when you grant permission for current-location weather, maps, hunting/fishing context, nearby conditions, GPS tracks, waypoints, Emergency Assist, or similar location-aware features.
- Device and notification information: push-notification subscription information and basic technical information required to operate and secure the service.
- Purchase status: subscription tier and entitlement status. Native purchases are processed by Apple or Google; OTX does not receive your full payment-card number from those stores.
How we use information
- Provide location-aware weather, water, season, map, access and trip information.
- Save your trips, waypoints, GPS tracks, watchlists and preferences.
- Send alerts and reminders you enable.
- Provide Emergency Assist features you choose to use.
- Maintain account security, troubleshoot problems and prevent abuse.
- Manage Basic, Pro and complimentary-access entitlements.
Location data
OTX uses location only for features that require it, such as current-position maps, nearby water and land intelligence, GPS route recording, trip waypoints and Emergency Assist. Background location may be used on supported mobile devices while you deliberately record an active GPS route. Device operating systems control location permission, and you may revoke that permission in device settings.
OTX does not claim to automatically send your location to 911 or emergency responders. If you choose to call, text, share, or navigate using Emergency Assist, your device and carrier complete those actions.
Third-party data and services
OTX combines information from services such as Mapbox, USGS, NOAA/National Weather Service, Open-Meteo, Fish Passage Center, state wildlife agencies, public-land systems and state/county parcel sources. Requests to these services may include coordinates or technical request information needed to return relevant map, weather, water or regulatory data. Their handling of information is governed by their own policies.
How we share information
We do not sell personal information. We may share limited information with service providers when required to operate OTX, process native subscriptions, deliver notifications, host the service, provide maps or retrieve location-relevant data. We may also disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect users, the public, or the service.
Data retention
We keep account and saved-feature data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the service. Some operational, security, transaction, and legal records may be retained longer when necessary. Device-local Offline Field Packs may remain on your device until you remove them or uninstall the app.
Your choices
You can control device location and notification permissions through your operating system and can manage many saved items and notification preferences inside OTX. Additional account and privacy controls will be described in the app and on the Support page as they become applicable to the public release.
Children
OutdoorTacticalX is not designed for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect account and application data. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product, law, or connected services change. The current version will be posted at outdoortacticalx.com/privacy with the revision date above.
